(Programming note: tomorrow afternoon, I'll post a big time interview I conducted that will last be on here through the Xmas holiday, so look for it.)
Obviously, these are the shows that I went to, so I wasn't a part of many of the popular one's out there.
5. The New Pornographers/Destroyer/Immaculate Machine @ Webster Hall, NYC, Rocktober 13, 2005: This is what I do with my free time at home -- have an internal debate on which of the four New Pornographers shows was the best this year. The ones at Maxwell's and Webster Hall I went to with my friends and that's always good to have. The one in London was surreal in that it was a small venue in a different part of the world and I became friendly with the gang. The first Webster Hall show wins out because Neko Case wore a pretty dress and sang Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams."
4. The Decemberists @ Webster Hall, NYC, Rocktober 5, 2005: I spent an hour today trying to convert the video I took of "Mr. Blue Sky" into a manageable download using some sort of Windows video editor. How about if I just invite people over to my house and we can watch it on my computer. I'll serve pizza rolls and Sprite.
3. Doves/Mercury Rev @ Theatre of Living Arts, Philadelphia, May 22, 2005: Six Doves shows this year and this was the only one they played "Space Face."
2. Franz Ferdinand/Editors @ Le Zenith, Paris, Rocktober 28, 2005: It was a journey of discovery -- I wanted to experience a full-blown European concert where the crowd jumps around all at the same time. Scratch that off the list of things to do before I die. As for The Editors (earlier post), I did get my ticket for the Mercury Lounge show today. My prediction is that it will be moved due to high demand to Webster Hall. If it doesn't, I'm sure they'll come around again.
1. Arcade Fire/Sound Team/Belle Orchestra @ Central Park Summer Stage, NYC, September 15, 2005: This will be last time you will get to see Arcade Fire (or is it The Arcade Fire?) is this normal size a venue. Next step for them is Hammerstein, then MSG. Oh, and David Bowie was at this show.
Honorable mentions: The National/Clap Your Hands Say Yeah/Nicole Atkins & The Sea @ Bowery, Royksopp @ Irving Plaza, Bloc Party/The Kills @ Electric Factory, Kaiser Chiefs/Morningwood @ Bowery, Duran Duran @ PNC Bank Arts Center.
