Just a quick post on my Friday night activities. The Avett Brothers played an epic two-hour set full of foot pounding, head banging and banjo wailing folk/bluegrass/punk craziness. This is my second go-around with The Avetts, having seen them with BR549 last January.
Nic used to play with the Brothers back in day in the Carolina music scene. Now, both have record deal and make the dollar, dollar billz y'all. Doesn't she look darlin' in her early-60s, Carole King outfit?
Local band O'Death began the night. They a dark, twangy brand of Appalachian music similar in spirit to the Avett Brothers. It's traditional, Civil War-era tunes played with aggression of punk rockers.
