Awesome to see that Gotan Project, one of the best dance live acts around, return to New York, their first time since 2003. They throw down at Webster Hall on Wednesday, October 25 (tix here). That's good news for anyone who hasn't seen them, bad news for me because I'll be in London on that day. Phewy! I knew it would happen, but what can you do?
So here's what I'm thinking. I've resisted the urge to have someone guest blog or to go to a show for me, but I'll have to make an exception for Gotan Project because I truly believe they are amazing live. Here's what I'm thinking, if anyone would like to go, I'll gladly pay the $30 you to go. Bring a friend or friends? Sure, they pay their own way. You get there when the doors open, get up front, take a few pictures, write up your thoughts for me and you get the credit. This is a one time only deal. Drop me an e-mail and I'll see how it goes.
Need proof on their powers live? YouTube to the rescue...
One show I will be attending is Tahiti 80, who I'm not sure if they have ever played in New York. In any event, for those who need a little more dose of French pop can check out these guys in your neighborhood. They just signed with The Militia Group after being on Minty Fresh for the past few albums. You can check them out in your hood as well.

Tahiti 80 toured the US for the first two albums, I'm pretty sure. NYC at least. I saw them at Brownies in 2000.

I can attest to them coming to the NY area before because I've seen them at the Vanderbilt on Long Island back in I think 2001. The bass player was one pissy man who I'm pretty sure attacked the sound man during their set. Crazy times indeed and I don't think I can pass up on the possibility of that happening at Mercury! :) I'll mosty likely see you at that show.

Tahiti 80 at the Khyber in Philly was hands down one of the best show's I've ever seen there. A live band not to be missed!
