We're taking this bad boy overseas again. Before I do that, we got some rocking to do in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Rocktober 2: Massive Attack @ Roseland Ballroom: It's been eight years since Robert Del Naja has played in NYC. Hopefully, we won't have to wait another eight to see him again after this three night stand. DJ Spinna will spin before the show.
Rocktober 4: Nicole Atkins & The Sea/La Laque @ Asbury Lanes, Asbury Park: Nic is celebrating the release of her Bleeding Diamonds EP down where it all began, the Jersey Shore. She's been working in Sweden with producer Tore Johansson (Franz Ferdinand, The Cardigans) on her full length. La Laque are one of my local favorites with their brand of smooth French pop.
Rocktober 6: Secret Machines @ Theatre of Living Arts, Philly: I'm heading back down to Philly to catch the concert in the round experience of the Secret Machines. I'm wondering how they are going to pull it off at the TLA, since the floor slopes down.
* I'm not sure if I can see the "It" girl Lily Allen's New York debut @ Hiro Ballroom on the 10th. It's a long story.
Rocktober 11: Basement Jaxx/The Double @ Webster Hall: A guarantee time of your life with Basement Jaxx. You've got to trust me on this one. Seeing them five years ago changed my life ... seriously.
Rocktober 12: Silversun Pickups/Viva Voce @ Bowery Ballroom: Was at Mercury, now upgraded. They pulled a Arctic Monkeys on us. The L.A. outfit Silversun Pickups kick it early Smashing Pumpkins style -- lots of guitar fuzz and driving drums. Viva Voce should not be looked over. They sound a little similar to the Pickups, that mid-90s post-grunge, alterna-rock with a sunny disposition.
Rocktober 13: Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins/The Little Willies @ Town Hall: It's about time I worked Jenny Lewis into my concert calendar. I think she's put out one of the best albums of the year -- a retro country/gospel album which pays homage to Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Barbara Mandrel. I'm waiting outside the venue until the Little Willies end.
Rocktober 17: Tilly & the Wall/Northern State @ Bowery Ballroom: More love for the Tilly gals and guys. Long Island rap crew Northern State kick it Beastie Boy style via Luscious Jackson. I've seen them a couple of times and they're a fun group. The girls can flow.
Rocktober 18: DJ Shadow @ Webster Hall: Second time around with Shadow. I saw the Irving Plaza show in 2002, a visual feast for the eyes and obviously, the music was impeccable. Although, the friggin thing didn't start until well after 11pm. Anyway, the word is that he's using a full band. Looking forward to the results.
Rocktober 19: Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ Bowery Ballroom: The Bowery website says that it's closed for private event, so I'm guessing that it might not be open to the general public. So I don't know if blogger boys like me are aloud in.
... I pack up my suitcase, secure my passport, leave all my liquids and creams at home and say "Goodbye, America" and "Halo, love'. Will the red light district ever be the same after I make my mark? We will see.
Rocktober 24, London: I have a few of options open to me. NME is having one of their Shockwaves New Music shows at KOKO. Awesome, never been to KOKO, but there's one thing -- WHO THE HELL IS PLAYING? I can't get answers. My options include Sandi Thom sticking flowers in her hair at Dingwall's. Another pleasant surprise is that my buddies The Morning After Girls are in town playing at a club called Pop. Others in town include Mystery Jets, Panic! At the Crisco (hell no), Mates of States and Misty's Big Adventure.
Rocktober 25, London: I'm leaning towards hanging with my buddies The Grates. They've playing Kings College with band to watch The Victorian English Gentleman's Club. My first choice actually would be to seen Graham Coxon at Astoria, but that's been sold out for ages. Also playing this night is Sandi Thom, Mystery Jets, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly, Tunng and the actors from the hit UK British comedy show, Little Britian, are performing their skits live at the Hammersmith Apollo. Fuck it, I should just see Ashlee Simpson in Chicago.
Rocktober 26, The Good, The Bad and The Queen @ The Roundhouse: The gig of the month. I have no clue what to expect, which makes it all the more exciting. It's going to make one hell of a post -- that I know. Unlucky for me, also playing this day are buzz acts King Creosote and Peter Bjorn and John.
Rocktober 27, Thomas Dybdahl @ Paradiso, Amsterdam: There's not much playing in Amsterdam the weekend I'm there, but I do want to see something at the Paradiso, which I'm told is a must-attend venue. Here's what MTV Europe says about Dybdahl: Award-winning Norwegian singer-songwriter Thomas Dybdal has released two solo albums and also written songs for other artists. A member of gold-selling band The National Bank, Thomas frequently collaborates with other talented Norwegian musicians and prominent producers such as Mike Daly (Whiskeytown/Ryan Adams). A lot of his songs were written in New York City, where he finds time and inspiration to write. In 2003 he won Spellemannprisen for Best pop artist and an Alarm award for Best pop album.

I’m liking this list, especially jenny Lewis and silversun pickups, but no TV on The Radio??? that's heresy.

I hate to disappoint you more, but I don't like TV on the Radio. To me, they make music you study, not music to listen to. Hey, never said I was perfect.

"They've playing Kings College with band to watch The Victorian English Gentleman's Club."
Oh, I hate you!
