I'm resurrecting this little jem I posted 2 years ago when I didn't know what I was doing. Damn, I still don't know what I'm doing. Right about now, high school seniors are submitting their final thoughts for their yearbook. No pressure what so ever.
The correctly chosen yearbook quote can make or break your future. When E! True Hollywood Story goes through your past, they can point to your yearbook quote and say, "Look at this guy, he was poised for stardum" Then again, 60 Minutes can look you up and say, "Evidence of a mass murder."
Mine was a bunch of quotes from MST3K, which now seem rather outdated. If 2008 me can go back in time and change my quote, it would be "I ... drink .... your .... MILKSHAKE!!!"
Here's what I've come up with for potential yearbook quotes for you youngsters, feel fee to add your own:
* "I wanna have a good time and enjoy my Jack. Sit back and watch some women get drunk as hell, so I can wake up in the morning with a story to tell." -- Ludacris, "Get Back"
* "You shut your mouth. How can you say? I go about things the wrong way. I am human and I need to be loved just like everybody else does." -- The Smiths, "How Soon is Now?"
* "I want to live like common people. I want to do whatever common people do. I want to sleep with common people. I want to sleep with common people like you." -- Pulp, "Common People"
* "Get low, get low, get low, get low. To the window, to the wall, to the sweat drop down my balls. To all these bitches crawl. To all, skeet skeet motherfucker." -- Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, "Get Low"
* "Jack the Rabbit and Weak Knees Willie you know they're gonna be there. Sloppy Sue and Big Bones Billie, they'll be comin' up for air. We're gonna play some pool skip some school act real cool, stay out all night it's gonna feel alright." -- Bruce Springsteen, "Rosalita"
* "Here in my car I feel safest of all. I can lock all my doors. It's the only way to live in cars ." -- Gary Numan, "Cars"
* "She's just sixteen years old. 'Leave her alone,' they say. Separated by fools, who don't know what love is yet? But I want you to know if I could fly, I'd pick you up. I'd take you into the night and show you a love like you've never seen." -- Benny Mardones, "Into the Night".
* "I'm a professional cynic but my heart's not in it. I'm paying the price of living life at the limit caught up in the centuries anxiety." -- Blur, "Country House"
* "Soon, I discovered that this rock thing was true. Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil. Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet. All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world, so there was only one thing that I could do was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long." -- Ministry, "Jesus Built My Hot Rod"
* "If you're havin' girl problems, I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain't one." -- Jay-Z, "99 Problems"
* "Well, sir, there's nothing on earth like a genuine, bona fide, electrified, six-car monorail. What'd I say? Monorail! What's it called? Monorail!" -- Lyle Lanley, "Monorail!"
* "Oh, what fun we had, but did it really turn out bad ? All I learnt at school was how to bend not break the rules. Oh, what fun we had, but at the time it seemed so bad trying different ways to make a difference to the days." -- Madness, "Baggy Trousers"
" There's my father looking on and there's my girlfriend arm in arm with the captain of the other team. And all of this is clear to me. They condescend and fix on me a frown. How they love the sporting life." -- The Decemberists, "The Sporting Life"
* "I gotta pocket full of quarters, and I'm headed to the arcade. I don't have a lot of money but I'm bringing everything I've made. I've gotta callus on my finger, and my shoulder's hurtin' too. I'm gonna eat 'em all up, just as soon as they turn blue, cause I've got Pac-Man Fever." -- Buckner & Garcia, "Pac-Man Fever"
* "Michael, you're dancing like a beautiful dance whore. Michael, waiting on a silver platter now ... and nothing matters now." -- Franz Ferdinand, "Michael"
* "I leaned the truth at seventeen that love was meant for beauty queens and high school girls with clear-skinned smiles who married young and then retired." -- Janis Ian, "At Seventeen"
Some editions to list:
* "Dancing at discos. Eating cheese on toast. Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy, but you obviously, you didnt want to stick around." -- Kate Nash, "Merry Happy"
* "Ooooh, come on. I want to take you higher. Oooh, come on. Let's make electric fire!" -- Bang Camaro, "Push Push Lady Lightning"
* "Right see the thing that's got it all fucked up now is camera-phones. How the hell am I supposed to be able to do a line in front of complete strangers. When I know they've all got cameras?" -- The Streets, When You Wasn't Famous
* "We used to be Gods, now we're so plain. It took ten million years just to say my real name. Back before Babylon, shit was cool. Now we've all got our saddles on, and trot to school." -- Les Savy Fav, "Patty Lee"
