Just when you thought it was safe to put away your schoolboy ties and jacket, the lads from The Young Knives have their second album in stores today. Superabundance finds the boys as energetic and spastic as ever. The Mercury-prize nominated Voices of Animals and Men was a powder-keg of post-punk madness. Their live show at Mercury Lounge last year surprised me in how a mid-week crowd took to them instantly. I don't think I've danced so much at the Merc since then. Maybe Calvin Harris.
Anyway, the guys have lined-up a few U.S. dates in support of their second Rykodisc effort. With three dates in the NYC area, you have no excuse not to miss them. Oh, yes. There will be BritPop.
- June 6: Studio B -- Brooklyn
- June 7: Union Hall -- Brooklyn
- June 8: Johnny Brenda’s -- Philadelphia
- June 9: Mercury Lounge -- New York
In the meantime, enjoy their smashing single, "Up All Night"
