One of the new British acts I played today on the show was a young group of lads called Bombay Bicycle Club. The BBC have a crackling debut song called "Evening/Morning".
They have a lot of qualities found in a young, scrappy new U.K. bands in the post-Libertines, Arctic Monkey dominated era -- jittery guitars, busy drum work and aggressive lyrics. That's mostly due to production by Jim Abbiss, the mastermind behind Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and Editor's The Back Room.
The band has been picking around EPs for the past year. The NME praised them as "the hottest band to come from North London for quite some time," which they sayabout every new U.K. act.
From their bio: It doesn’t sound like anyone else, not really. It’s about parties and drugs and girls, and talking about the meaning of life, and growing up, and never wanting to grow old. They’re 17, but you don’t have to be a teenager to love these songs. In the words of NME: “Don’t be deceived by their age – there’s a lifetime of experience in these glorious tunes.”

definitely better than cajun dance party.
