It looks likes Patience retro-fitted a pair of cowgirl boots on top of some Chuck Taylors. She's just a regular-ole DIY shoe cobbler. This is what it has come to, I'm talking about her shoes -- a sign that I have run out of things to talk about.
The second album, Teeth Lost, Hearts Won, is out today, finally. It's been out in the rest of the globe for a year, so thanks to the Thirty Tigers label for bringing sunshine to the masses.
Go-to producer Peter Katis took care of this album. His Connecticut studio played hosts to Interpol, The National, Spoon and Tokyo Police Club. This album does have a more fuller sound, with plenty of pop chaos and ear catching songs. I like the faster songs of this album more then Gravity Won't Get You High. "Aw Yeah" was an instant favorite when I hear it last year. Although, I prefer the slow songs on their debut like Rock Boys and I Am Siam.
This is third time I've seen them at Mercury. Like they have before, they played in front of Tigercity. The first time I saw them back in 2006, they were on killer line-up with Corinne Bailey Rae and The Guillemots. Anyway, they always throw down the good times. It hasn't gotten old for me, seeing Pae jump around like a mad woman and displaying her outgoing personality.
The setlist:
- Trampoline
- Science is Golden
- Earthquake
- Milkeyes
- Rock Boys
- Aw Yeah
- Two Kings of Right
- Inside/outside
- Feels Like Pain
- Carve Your Name
- Burn Bridges
That reminds me, Patience would like the world to know that she drove in the U.S. for three days straight. I think that deserves a golf clap.
Pae, John and Alana, having already conquered Australia, have set up temporary resistance in the U.S. to tour the hell of this album. They'll be joining label mates Those Darllins on a fall tour. They recently did a few dates with Passion Pit, where they discovered the hell of playing Philly's First Unitarian Church on a sweltering summer night in front of a sold out crowd. Yeah, I leave that to your imagination.
As a final note, I was compelled to tweet between sets because I saw the actor who played Artie Bucco on The Sopranos in the crowd. Technology is so grand.

I thought the entire night was magical... here's my review in rocknyc http://www.rocknycliveandrecorded.com/2009/09/ticgercity-at-mercury-lounge-saturday.html
