The Maccabees released their sophomore album, Wall of Arms, over the summer, but have yet to make it readily available in the States. It's decidedly different sounding album, trading in punchy rock tunes for something more melodic, but still tight and lively. Orlando Weeks expressed his desire to change their sound in my interview with him back in 2007.
While The Big Pink have already played in New York, Bombay Bicycle Club have not. Not fair. Their Jim Abbiss-produced album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose, is available around these parts. It's smashing, dashing and fun for the kids.
The Drums, I'm sure you know, are the band du jour from Brooklyn, until somebody replaces them next week.
