A little re-post for you. I saw that IMAX 3-D of A Christmas Carol or what I like to call it, "Robert Zemeckis Takes Talented Actors and Makes Them Creepy Looking." So I figure I reprise my good-natured bah-humbug list on you.
I also asked this question of Twitter, "Has there been any decent original Xmas songs made since "Do They Know Its Christmas?'" I can only think of Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Songs, and that's not even an Xmas song. I digress.
5. "Santa Baby," originally done by Eartha Kitt. The most annoying version was done by Madonna for A Very Special Christmas album. Now, there are versions by Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, Everclear, Jane Krakowiski and The Pussycat Dolls. It's that tone that gets on my nerve -- a cupie doll, baby voice that's suppose to sound sexy. And come on, let's look that lyrics; "Just slip a sable under the tree." You know what that's suppose to mean. Naughty naughty.
4. "The Christmas Song," by The Chipmonks: It's like nails on blackboard. It seems like that song goes on longer than it should.
3. "Step Into Christmas," by Elton John: Christmas songs shouldn't be all so "Hello Frisco!" and flamboyant. Bernie Taupin should have told E.J., "Maybe you should tone it down a bit on this one."
2. "Wonderful Christmastime,' by Paul McCartney: Yeah, I'm calling shenanigans on Macca. It's not the lyrics or his singing, it's that stupid electronic tones. don-ing, don-ing, don-ing, beuuuuuu. Please, get it out of my head.
1. "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer," by Elmo and Patsy: This song might have turned me into a music snob. I remember when the song first came out, I was baffled why people found that song so funny. The video was shown on MTV between Christmas In Hollis and Bryan Adams' Raggae Christmas. The duo of Elmo & Patsy were a husband and wife duo. They eventually divorced -- that's how bad that song is. I would like to see the lawyer sort the royalties out on that song.
This post allows me to post the Heidi Klum Christmas song, which ranks a 10 on the unintentional funny scale. The best part, Santa getting "excited" when Klum appears on screen.
