The world's greatest idea for a concert venue cannot be held within the depth of my mind. I was daydreaming of a Daft Punk/TRON theme park ride (how damn awesome was the new trailer?!?!) and it dawned on me that there a lack of physical activity in our concert going. Those of us in tri-state area are enjoying Brooklyn Bowl -- the Dave & Busters for hipsters. When you think of it, you can't really rock out to the music while you're bowling. It's inhertant flaw in the concept of mixing bowling and music enjoyment.
Thus, the hipster areas of our great nation, the Williamsburgs, North Liberties/Fishtown, Mission Hills, Deep Elums, Echo Parks and Humboldts, should embrace the retro stlyings of roller skating. You take a abandoned warehouse, put down some slick hardwood, install a big disco ball, plenty of fun lighting and neon and right dab in the middle, a concert stage. Imagine the latest buzz band, like Neon Indian, doing their thing while 100s of people skating around them. They are doing the boogies, smiling and getting a little workout. The wind in your hair equals memories of a lifetime.
I do realize the danger of injury, especially for the band getting their gear into the center of the rink. There might have to be tunnel built that goes under the rink.
In any event, fuck bowling, let's get some skating going on. The venue can be called RollerROCK or just SKATE. Come on, the fun level is 110%
Take a look at the trailer for SkateTown USA, with an amazing all-star cast: Swyaze! Baio! Billy Barty! It shows the power to bring people of all races, hair styles and sexual orientations together.
Look at all those clothes, it's like an American Apparel ad come to life. My favorite part is 2:01, a gratuitous boobie shot.
This is not to be outdone by Roller Boogie, starring a coked-up Linda Blair.

I still say a rink like the one in Manson's "Lunchbox" video would be radder.

Hold some roller derby bouts and I guarantee you will have the support of every single derby league around here. I dream of a wood rink! Sick of losing part of my soul every time I hit that polished concrete floor.
Keep dreaming boy!
