Apache! Jump on it! Jump on it!
Okay, maybe not the Sugar Hill Gang, but Apache Beat gave Siren some sex appeal with their early set on the Stillwell Stage. The local gals and guys have been kicking around the NYC for three years. I nearly forgot that I saw them when they were just starting out. Today, I believe they are ready for a larger spotlight. Their set was smooth, stylish and groovy. You can credit that to lead singer Ilirjana Alusha. As you can tell, 95 degree temperatures didn't derail her from bringing out a tight purple sequin night dress. When I saw her walking around a few hours after her set, she didn't change. That's hardcore.
The group has an appropriate name, since they rely on tribal beats along with nightime synth grooves to give the music a huge boost of energy. I don't write down notes when I see shows, but I made a mental note on how every song had a different vibe. I definitely took note that didn't slow down for anything, keeping things lively and punchy.
Their debut album, Last Chants, comes out Rocktober 8.

Kick ass set for sure!
