There's two things that's astonishing about this news post. First, The Tings Tings announced details, album and tracklisting for their sophomore album, Sounds From Nowheresville. Second, I haven't written about these two cool cats since August 2009. I felt it was time slowly introduce them into the fold.
Let's lay out the album. Sounds From Nowheresville is the final result of two-year recording process. Their recordings made in Berlin in early 2010 that would have yielded an album called Kunst was scrapped. The only song to make the rounds as the one-off single, "Hands." It was back to square one for J + K. The two set up shop in Murcia, Spain, which is located in the south east part of country. The came out satified with the new material, which was inspired by Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique. So I guess this is Jules and Katie's Boutique.
The end result comes out on Columbia Records sometime in March. They'll be in the U.S. at that time as well.
The tracklisting is below and the art work is to the right. It's ... ummm ... yeah. Different.
- Silence
- Hit Me Down Sonny
- Hang It Up
- Give It Back
- Guggenheim
- Soul Killing
- One by One
- Day To Day
- Help
- In Your Life
The hitmakers released the first song off the album last October. It was called "Hang It Up".
Now, if you are familiar to this space. I was an early champion of the band before they got signed. I was at their first U.S. show at Glasslands in 2007, where we became fans of each other. I have subsequently been to too many shows, and see them become world wide superstars. I should disown them for their mainstream success, but I am still drawn to their pop perfection. Their success culminated in this beautiful scene in Horrible Bosses.
