Here's some welcome new music from an unappreciated British outfit. Former Mercury Prize nominees The Invisible have a new album out called, Rispah. Although live touring and appearance are put on hold while lead singer Dave Okumu recovers from an onstage injury he received in Nigeria, the album is fine companion to their 2009 self-titled debut. Turns out he got electrocuted on stage then collapsed off it. That's insane.
The Times of London calls it, "A stirring, stately, errie piece of music that sounds as ancient as it does futuristic." They've got a jazz-like, electronic dance/trance vibe going on the single, "Wings." The band reminds me of early 80s techno bands like Bronski Beat and Pet Shop Boys. I caught them last year on their lone visit to NYC, and they are unique musical experience.
