XPoNential Music Festival 2012 @ Camden Waterfront -- Wilco, Avett Brothers, Dr. Dog and More

Just a quick note and few pictures from Saturday's mega-lineup of superstars for this year's XPoNential Music Festival, the weekend long parade of music from WXPN 88.5 Philadelphia. This year's setup was a little different in that Wiggin Park in Camden, NJ hosted the afternoon festivities while the night time party was held next door at the cookie-cutter shed amphitheater that is Susquehanna Bank Center.

Since it was an extraordinarily beautiful day with perfect weather, the fans, supporters, families and all sorts of white people came out in droves. That was my joke the whole day -- try to find somebody of race among the tens of thousands. It did seem to be a lineup that was put together by middle-aged white guy. To WXPN's defense, Firefly festival in Delaware took a lot of modern / newish bands that could have easily played the festival.

The afternoon definitely had a mellow vibe, so much so that I took several naps on the lawn. Hey, I need to rest up for the nighttime. When the hoards moved over to the shed, the whole vibe changed into a hoe-down with the high flying Dr. Dog doing what they do best -- bringing the fun and the harmonies. Avett Brothers, who I haven't seen live in six-seven years were just like I how I remembered, punked-up Americana. Wilco were, as always, dynamite and probably the most energetic I've ever seen them with a huge stage set-up.
