Superstar band in the making above. Various Cruelties resume is stacked with opening slots for Mumford & Sons, Kasabian and The Vaccines, all in their native UK. Thus, it's just a matter lf time before they will be a buzz band in America,
Oh wait, they might already be and you might have already heard them. Turn on your TV this holiday season and you'll come across their song, "It It Wasn't For You" in a Zales commercial. I guess they ran out of Black Keys songs to license. The song off their debut album was recorded in L.A. by hitmaking producer Tony Hoffer (Belle & Sebastian, Beck, Silversun Pickups, Phoenix).
So what's their deal? It's retro 60s soul, a mixture of Northern Soul and Philly Soul all wrapped up in a pop bow. Lead singer Liam O'Donnell has a smooth, seductive voice, one that will get the band attention.
Their self-titled debut album has been out in the UK since April, but the U.S. will get in on that Various Cruelties action on February 26th, with a U.S. tour in the works.
