The weirdly seductive, Geoff Barrow-produced singer Anika has a new EP featuring covers from such various artists as the Kinks and Shocking Blue. The self-titled EP will be available for download via the Stone's Throw label on April 16th. Barrow produced all the tracks. Of course, you know he's in Portishead and just played NYC with his Beak> outfit, who backed Anika at ATP 2011 Asbury Park. Beak>'s Billy Fuller and Matt Williams played on the EP.
1. “I Go To Sleep” (Chromatics)
2. “He Hit Me” (The Crystals)
3. “Love Buzz” (Shocking Blue)
4. “In The City” (Kinks)
5. “No One’s There (dub)”
6. “Yang Yang (dub)”
Shocking Blue is one my favorite 60s bands -- totally under-rated in my book.
How about a little preview? This is the Kinks cover, "In the City"
