Now, this welcome news here at MS.com HQ. The Australian-duo Gypsy & The Cat fell off my radio after they had to cancel their U.S. dates in 2011. Their ex-ordinarily dreamy debut album, Gilgamesh, had some major backing with Sony/Columbia releasing it in Australia and producers David Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT) and Rich Costey (Muse) guiding the effort. Time to Wander and Jona Vark are masterful songs.
In any event, all systems are go for 2013 in the U.S. The Late Blue is their new album, which is slated for release here on April 30th. “We spent a lot of time trying to forge a new sound. We’ve moved forward – to the ‘60s," say the duo of Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers.
Even better than the new music, is their first NYC date on Feb, 21st at the Slipper Room in NYC. I've never been to the Slipper Room. Sounds fancy. I might have to wear pants. Tickets on sale now. Their U.S. debut will be on the 19th at L.A.'s Hote Cafe.
In the meantime, check out the video for their track, "Sorry", from the new album
